I have always taken the position that wealthy people ,for the most part, do not consider socialism a threat to their wealth in any meaningful way. When we take into consideration the wealthy class that still remains in Socialist countries, i.e., Venuzuela, Cuba, Zimbabwa, China, and did exist in the old Communist Russia, there would seem, for them, not much to worry about.

WHAT HAPPENED TO THOSE 62 YEARS ?

Sixty two years ago I was stationed in Salina ,Kansas at Schilling AFB. During that period I discovered the most awesome cole slaw recipe ever invented. It was the recipe developed by the Brookville Hotel, a small hotel located in Brookville, Kansas about 30 miles Southwest of Salina.

Probably went there a couple of times a month for their terrific fried chicken dinner and the cole slaw The hotel has been in business since 1870. Back in 1955 it did not look at all as the photo depicts. It's the same looking building but was more an " in town" location, but then, that was 62 years ago.

If anyone would be interested in trying this recipe, the famous Brookfield cole slaw, just Google "Brookfield cole slaw. ...Yummmmmm!

Two capitalist student groups at Kent State University (Turning Point USA and Young Americans for Liberty) challenged some socialist student groups to a canned food donation competition.

“We decided to engage in a friendly challenge in hopes to increase donations overall because a challenge is always a way to get people active and willing to participate, and to ease tensions that have been prevalent, said Kaitlin Bennett, president of Turning Point USA to Fox News.

The socialists weren’t having it. Socialists put ideology over charity

Instead of agreeing to the competition, which would benefit people in need, the socialist groups opted to use the situation as a way to attack the capitalist groups and advance their own platform.

The Young Democratic Socialists of America issued a statement on Twitter:

“While this event would benefit the public greatly, we at YDSA do not work with organizations that promote/endorse figures who do promote sexism, racism, homophobia, transphobia, Zionism, or any other intolerant dangerous belief. Therefore it is against our principles to work with either TPUSA or YAL.”

The Kent State Socialist Collective issued a longer statement on its Twitter account, blaming capitalism for the fact that canned food drives are necessary in the first place.

“More often than not, people are willing to donate canned goods for a food drive. But how often do we ask why there are people who rely on our charity to survive?

“We have enough food to donate, and too many people who need donations. The issue is about wealth, who has it and who doesn’t. The issue is with capitalism.”

It really was just about donations

The capitalist groups didn’t fire back and fan the flames of political debate. After all, they were just trying to get more canned food donations.

“The purpose of this challenge was to extend an olive branch to our ideological counterparts on campus, open up a mutual dialogue and friendly channels of communication, and accomplish some good for our community in the process,” the capitalist groups said in a statement.

   Yesterday I was in a Civil War Museum at one of the points where a major engagement took place. While looking through the gift shops I noticed the absence of Confederate flags, none. I asked the volunteer about it and was told they had to remove them. How stupid.

How ironic it would be if one day involuntary servitude were to return because no one could explain the past or the Civil War. You could put a hundred Progressives in a room and not a one would know what the hell is going on or why.................Progressives, the dumbest people on the planet.

From what I have viewed in the way of political ads on the tube lately is that the Progressives running for governor in the next election here in Illinois are all in for a progressive taxing program. I think the following should be a fair warning to Progressive devotee's who think they are led by people hugging pretenders.

Illinoisans got a glimpse of that shape-shifting monster in 2014, when lawmakers attempted to implement a so-called “fair tax,” which they claimed would only hike taxes on the rich. The reality was the 2014 proposal would have increased taxes on anyone with more than $22,000 in taxable income.

– Illinoisans need only look across the state border to see the term “rich” has been redefined to dip deep into the middle class.The highest tax rate of 8.98 percent in Iowa applies to those earning more than just $70,785. The highest tax rate of 6 percent in Kentucky applies to those earning more than $75,000. The highest rate of 6 percent in Missouri kicks in on any income (after deductions) just over $9,000. And Wisconsin’s second-highest tax rate of 6.27 percent hits worker incomes from approximately $22,400 to $247,000.

Most progressive tax programs reflect the Progressive mindset i.e. What's a little bulls**t. The proletariat will forget it by the next election.

INTERESTING NOTE ON THE HILL/BILLIE CHARITABLE FOUNDATION 

 I was curious about the accusations of some about the amount of monies that were actually appropriated to charities by the foundation, so I went to the Charity Navigator site that rates charities to see what they had to say.

They rate them well enough but there are some things that are left to the viewers imagination.

 The foundation does not donate to charities as such. The Clinton Foundation categorizes themselves as an implementer. That is to say, that the good works they do are funded by having staff to do the work where the charitable work is being done. ( Now that's control of expenditures, Blowing in The Wind.) 

Asked for some examples of the work it performs itself, the Clinton Foundation listed these:
 Clinton Development Initiative staff in Africa train rural farmers and help them get access to seeds, equipment and markets for their crops.
    Clinton Climate Initiative staff help governments in Africa and the Caribbean region with reforestation efforts, and in island nations to help develop renewable energy projects.
    Staff at the Clinton Health Access Initiative, an independent, affiliated entity, work in dozens of nations to lower the cost of HIV/AIDS medicine, scale up pediatric AIDS treatment and promote treatment of diarrhea through life-saving Zinc/ORS treatment.
    Clinton Health Matters staff work with local governments and businesses in the United States to develop wellness and physical activity plans.

We all know of Kaepernick and others of taking to their knees in protest of social injustice during the National Anthem at the beginning of the games. But there is a problem with it in the long run. It becomes so normal an action before every game people will start to turn off the TV the first 5 minutes or show up late until the opening ceremonies are over. Either way it will possibly turn into a meaningless effort.

But we have to understand that taking to the knees really started in the Oval Office a few years back and that did not last all that long either.

 Professional sports have been examples of excellence for ourselves and our children.  They have matched up the best players, regardless of skin color or ethnicity, and set the highest standard of human achievement that merits the respect of all Americans.  Its champions have inspired and become heroes to all of us.

 But now, to advance equality and fairness, we must end this.  We must, as in many other professions, replace merit with a different standard that reflects the makeup of America as a whole.
 
This must be done by what civil rights rulings have called "disparate impact."  If a community is 12 percent Eskimo, but a local company has less than this share of Eskimo employees, this is to be seen as clear evidence of racial discrimination.  It must be corrected by a preferential quota requiring hiring of Eskimos.

 African-American males, for example, are only about six percent of America's population, yet they are so talented that they are approximately 70 percent of NFL and 74.4 percent of NBA players.

 The NFL and NBA, to fix this racial equality, should be required to hire and fire players by race until by, say, 2020, each team fits the mix of America itself.  In the most recent Census, the USA was 12.6 percent African-American, 16.3 percent Hispanic or Latino, 4.8 percent Asian-American, and 72.4 percent white.  NFL and NBA players should reflect that same racial proportion.

 If our sports are to be politicized, then it is time we make merit and talent secondary and impose racial quotas first and foremost.  Sports should reflect America's proportion of races.

 Painful as it will be to lose the excellence of today's pro football and basketball, these teams should be brought into line with America's national racial profile.  To do less would be racist.  Our sports should be examples of racial equality not only in words and gestures, but also in fact.

  The real problem is political correctness. Its real name is, of course, cultural Marxism. All the PC judgments originate with Marxist values. Marxism is the epitome of politics, in that it assigns a political value to everything.

PC originates from the doctrine of "the dialectic", in which everything is defined only in terms of its perceived opposite. If you ask a communist about communism, good or bad, he or she will answer in terms of how it differs from "capitalism", which was Marx's term for our free enterprise economic system. It's the same with PC, where American values are judged in terms of where they differ from social justice values. 

Our values are just fine as they are; only Marxists believe in perfection. The fact that, like all other countries, we once had slavery is part of our history is just that: history, meaning that it was in the past. Because we are a country that was founded upon individual freedom, we are excoriated by not having a perfect history of that freedom, whereas countries that were monarchical are not so criticized, even the Muslim countries which still have slavery are not criticized for that, either.........    In his January 1964 State of the Union address, President Lyndon Johnson proclaimed, “This administration today, here and now, declares unconditional war on poverty in America.” In the 50 years since that time, U.S. taxpayers have spent over $22 trillion on anti-poverty programs. Adjusted for inflation, this spending (which does not include Social Security or Medicare) is  "three times the cost of all U.S. military wars since the American Revolution."  Yet progress against poverty, as measured by the U.S. Census Bureau, has been minimal, ( Stands at about 13% today, down from about 15% in '64.) and in terms of President Johnson’s main goal of reducing the “causes” rather than the mere “consequences” of poverty, the War on Poverty has failed completely. In fact, a significant portion of the population is now less capable of self-sufficiency than it was when the War on Poverty began.

The last paragraph from a Time.com article goes thusly even after whitewashing the War on Poverty with the increase in non cash benefits such as Medicaid and food stamps which are not included in statistics. The "war" has not made any considerable dent in the poverty rate.

The War on Poverty has clearly not been won. No amount of explaining, interpreting or squinting at the plot of U.S. poverty rates can get us to a declaration of victory. Declarations of defeat are just as misguided, however. The War on Poverty has been fought against a shifting landscape that has made the effort more difficult with each passing decade. Renewed efforts that recognize demographic and labor market realities and the enormous challenges they place on anti-poverty efforts, and measures of that progress, should be the hallmarks of the next phase in this war.

    Giving it a thought

Today's liberal is mainly irrelevant in it's posturing on social justice, income distribution, and mostly inconsequential race issues. It's becoming tiresome.

 Increasingly they are becoming the lower order of propaganda to appease the younger base, millennial's, to stay loyal liberal's as the Progressive elites wend their way to taking the lead in Democratic policy. The millennial infatuation in the last election for the likes of Bernie Sander's Socialism and the recent talking point's of Elizabeth Warren, a Socialist prone Easterner, seem to be a road to winning in 2020 or in the least, important victories in 2018.

 What seems to be more prevalent in today's news is the increasing call by consistent Progressive rhetoric for the banning of speech, written or otherwise, of views that do not coincide with those of the Progressive method. One only has to look at the University atmosphere to realize what censure looks like.

 The expansion of this ultra liberal philosophy leads to the goal of an expanded centralized bureaucratic government that controls and regulates a, hopefully, trained and reeducated society in line with the utopian dream of one identical ideal.  

 Peaceful Fascism does not require book burning in the age of the internet.

Long wait times ensue. Buyers and sellers become surly with one another. Trust and goodwill fizzle. People start to feel helpless.

 The important achievement for those advocating a centralized bureaucratic dictate is the succumbing of the electorate to that helplessness, and in totality, adhere to an elitist consolidation of regulation in societal affairs.

One of the early Progressive philosophers in the 1800's up to 1930, was a gentleman named Herbert Croly. He had some admirers including FDR, Teddy Roosevelt, and Woodrow Wilson.

What is interesting in his writings is the fruition of events and actions occurring today just as he wrote about them. The biased liberal media, intensley tendentious universities, and demonstrations in the streets becoming more common as a means of expression. To illustrate the Progressive obsession of control over the attitude of individuals he proclaimed the following.

A new secular "science", a political and social science in which politicians,bureaucrats, academics, and experts harness the power of the state to indoctrinate and rule over the individual, and attempt to remake his nature and society in general through constant experimentation and manipulation.

He believed that people must be conditioned to accept and demand a centralized administrated state and that it should be accomplished by producing like minded believers through higher education.

There is no difference between Republicans and Democrats. Put them together. They are the swamp.

Just as Republicans have the power to enact the agenda they’ve pledged in toto, so too do they now own the federal government, in toto. It’s no longer Obamacare. It’s GOPcare. It’s no longer crazy liberal Democratic spending. It’s crazy liberal Republican spending. It’s no longer socialist Democratic Party taxation, it’s socialist Republican Party taxation. All the legislation authorizing all these programs, all the graft, all the waste, all the obscenity, all the immorality, and where Planned Parenthood is concerned, all the killing — all of it is now formally authored by the Republican Party.

Come the Congressional elections next year, and the presidential election in 2020, the Grand Old Party will once again bellow its hallowed promises. But this time it won’t work. This time there will be no straw men to blame. This time their voters will know those hallowed promises are not even hollow promises. They are lies.

These voters are tasting betrayal. They will not vote to swallow more vomit.

  ******************** Well, here we go again. The alt-right just has to convince us that we are evil for our cognitive processes in  remembering events that happened in the 18th and 19th century. Of course I'm speaking of the recent idiocy of the well organized and funded, ultra Progressive/Socialist group, known as ANTIFA.    

The cultural cleansing of even the memory of Southern history -- or any other history the Left does not like -- is the means by which the Left, like other religious/political cults past and present, is attempting to purge America’s past. By destroying or at least putting out of public view what are considered cultural idols, such as the recent call to transform the Jefferson Memorial, true faith will prevail and a socialist virtually sinless society can be established. That is the disturbing agenda of what is to be next.

The demanded Progressive changes to the Jefferson Memorial in Washington consists of instituting a recording, depicting Jefferson speaking from his likeness in bronze and letting the visiting public be informed of his ownership of slaves, is just the latest distorted philosophy of a growing sick and demented ideology. If sane people are willing to watch this go on, then they will be blessed with the fruits of their neglected diligence.
